IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake women's soccer team beat Dallas College Eastfield, 2-0, Tuesday to end the regular season.
The Blazers (5-5-5, 3-3-4 Dallas Athletic Conference) won twice and tied twice in its last four games.
Following a scoreless first half, North Lake's Brenda Rodriguez scored at the 51:50 mark on an assist from Yanina Mejia to break the deadlock. It was Rodriguez's first goal of the year.
Five minutes later, Anahi Bernal fielded a pass from Natalie Gaytan, and found the back of the net to cushion the lead to two goals. It was Bernal's team-leading seventh goal. Mejia and Gaytan both picked up their second assists.
North Lake put 10 of its 13 shots on goal.
Blazers goalkeeper Emely Vargas (5-4-5) stopped three shots in recording her fourth shutout this year.
The two teams will meet again 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South District Tournament quarterfinals at Dallas College Brookhaven.
