IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake women's soccer team tied No. 9 nationally-ranked Dallas College Richland, 1-1, Tuesday.
The Blazers moved to 4-5-4 overall, 2-3-3 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. Richland, which re-entered the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings this week after going unbeaten in its last six games, moved to 7-2-2 overall, 5-1-2 in the conference.
North Lake forward Lia Santiago put the Blazers on the board first when she ran down a long ball from Melissa Morales in the 10th minute, and banged in a rebound in front of the goalkeeper. It was Santiago's fourth goal of the season. She's scored in back-to-back games.
Morales picked up her fourth assist of the year.
In the 72nd minute, Richland's Emily Acosta scored after a scramble on a corner kick to tie the game at a goal apiece.
The Blazers finished with seven shots, six on goal.
North Lake goalkeeper Emely Vargas (4-4-4) made three saves.
The Blazers will play at Dallas College Cedar Valley (6-3-2, 4-2-2) Friday at 4 p.m.
