Blazers Begin Season Ranked No. 1

NJCAA DIII MEN's BASKETBALL PRESEASON RANKINGS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College North Lake men's basketball team is the preseason favorite in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll.

The Blazers received nine first place votes and 105 points in the 15-team poll. Herkimer College is No. 2 with 98 points. Brookdale Community College is third with 91, Riverland Community College fourth with 84 and Northern Essex Community College fifth with 77.

Dallas College Richand will open the season at No. 12 after earning 21 points. Dallas College Eastfield is receiving votes.

The Blazers won the NJCAA Division III National Championship last season, going 29-4. It was North Lake's fifth national title.

North Lake will open the season at home Nov. 1 against Texas Wesleyan University Junior Varsity on Community Day, where area elementary school students will tour the campus and attend the game. A pre-game ring ceremony is planned prior to the noon tip-off.
