Baseball Snaps 6-Game Skid in Big Win over Mountain View

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's baseball team snapped a six-game losing skid in a 15-7 win over Dallas College Mountain View Wednesday.

The Blazers (23-27, 13-12 Dallas Athletic Conference) matched their win total of a year ago, while staying within a game of third place in the league behind Dallas College Brookhaven – a come-from-behind 7-5 winner over Dallas College Cedar Valley.

Salvador De La Garza went 4 for 4 with a pair of walks and two stolen bases, and Ty Diaz and Brayden McCallum both had two hits and four runs batted in as the Blazers broke open a one-run game with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and tacked on two more in the seventh and one in the eighth to win going away.

It was the second time this month North Lake has scored 15 runs in a game, and the sixth time the Blazers have done so this season in wins.

Mountain View (17-28, 7-18) held one-run leads after the third and midway through the fifth, but the six-run sixth did tamed the Lions. Adrien Varela was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI. Scooter New went 2 for 3 with two RBI, and Asher Bates was 2 for 5 for the Lions.

North Lake's Skyler Raley (3-2) pitched four innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits and two walks, and struck out two in the win.

Ivan Rodriguez was 2 for 5 with two RBI and a stolen base, and Bear Herak had a hit and three walks for the Blazers.

Games 2 and 3 are set for noon Saturday and Sunday at Mountain View.
