North Lake Student-Athletes Help Feed 265 Families
IRVING, Texas -- Student-athletes from Dallas College North Lake volunteered at a drive-through food drive on campus Friday to feed people from the community.
Blazers student-athletes joined Dallas College employees to bag dry and canned goods, chicken, milk, fruits and vegetables and other snack foods. They also loaded cars from families in the community with the food donations in the North Lake campus parking lots. It helped families and people in the community ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and as a response to the government shutdown.
Student Care Coordinator Jenn Segura said North Lake served 265 families and 1,323 individuals in the food drive. A total of 101 were Snap recipients, and 31 were government employees.
